TEF Development

Volunteers are the reason Tomball Education Foundation continues to provide additional educational resources to Tomball schools. The Board of Directors’ volunteer committees never lose sight of the TEF mission:

The Tomball Education Foundation’s mission is to develop and allocate resources to enrich, enhance, and maximize the quality of education for all students.

Tomball Education Foundation’s Executive Team members are experienced, knowledgeable business professionals who support the Tomball community. Development is a committee crucial to TEF’s educational objectives.

What Development Committees Do

The development committee is the engine that gives a nonprofit organization the power to move forward. Development committees cultivate sources of sustainable income to support the nonprofit organization’s goals. The committee sets financial objectives and develops fundraising strategies. It seeks donors and sponsors who are willing to advocate for the organization’s mission.

Development committee volunteers:

  • Build relationships with businesses and individuals
  • Establish goals and methodologies for resource development
  • Monitor fundraising initiatives and accountability
  • Motivate members to participate in fundraising and supporter/donor development
  • Oversee donor appreciation

‘Beyond Traditional Funding’

The Tomball Education Foundation development committee seeks financial support from donors and donor-businesses. These sponsors and benefactors share TEF’s specific goals of generating student excitement in learning and a desire for improved educational achievement.

Two of TEF’s annual fundraisers are Boots & Bling and Stuff The Bus. These events generate funds and school supplies for Tomball Independent School District (TISD). Every year, TEF awards thousands of dollars in grants for teaching innovative educational programs. The organization also sponsors a State of the District event at which community leaders and businesses can learn about Tomball schools’ growth and educational opportunities. Former Texas Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora of TISD, is the featured speaker.

Tomball schools have the same state and federal funding opportunities as most schools, but it’s barely enough money to adequately finance classroom basics. TEF helps promote excitement among teachers and students, with a focus on literacy, arts, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). TISD has now become an award-winning “destination district,” with recognition as one of the Best High Schools in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

Tyler Torres, TEF VP Development Since 2021

Tomball Education Foundation’s Board of Directors’ Vice President of Development is Tyler Torres. His experience as a successful commercial real estate broker has given him the skills that benefit TEF development. Real estate professionals need negotiation, strategic planning, and relationship-building skills. “…Skills that translate into serving effectively on the foundation’s board,” says Torres. “I’m able to bring a results-driven mindset while also focusing on collaboration and long-term vision for the foundation.”
